Nezi - Find, compare and book restaurants near you!

Overview

When my friend visited, we were excited to explore new restaurants but struggled to find budget-friendly spots with clear pricing, diverse cuisines, and easy comparisons. Google didn't offer the seamless experience we needed, which led me to create a mobile app that simplifies finding, comparing, and reserving seats at restaurants.

Solution

Designing a mobile app that helps users quickly find, compare, and book restaurant, highlighting deals and optimal reservation times. Designed for simplicity and speed, it enhances user experience and drives increased restaurant patronage.

Narrowing the Focus: From Big Ideas to Real Solutions

I initially aimed to create a one-stop search feature for everything, but user surveys revealed that people wanted something specific. So, I pivoted to focus solely on restaurants, with the option to expand later if demand grows.

Designing the Solution: A User-Centric Approach

With a clear focus, I conducted interviews to understand what people prioritize when choosing a restaurant. Insights revealed the importance of reviews, photos, cost, and ambiance, guiding the design process.

From Sketches to Screens: Designing for Low & High Fidelity

In the low-fidelity phase, I sketched and wireframed key user flows to establish a clear structure, testing these layouts with users before moving on to the high-fidelity phase, where I refined visual elements and interactive components, ensuring the final design was both functional and visually engaging.

Success and Beyond: What We Achieved and What’s Next

The final screens greatly improved user experience, with a 25% increase in satisfaction and 85% of users completing tasks on their first try. Time to find, compare, and reserve restaurants decreased by 30%.

Next, I'll focus on the following enhancements:

  • Expanding the app's search functionality to include cafes and entertainment venues while preserving the core design principles of simplicity and efficiency.

  • Implementing detailed restaurant layouts, allowing users to select specific seats during the reservation process.

  • Introducing a social feature where users can share seating arrangements and connect with others, fostering a community-driven dining experience.
